Balanced decision making. Together.
The State Development Plan (PED) of the Mexican state of Guanajuato, with a vision for 2050, falls within the framework of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved by the United Nations’ Member States in 2015. It represents a long-term action plan and a guiding instrument for meeting the SDGs. To this end, it was decided that a space dedicated to monitoring and assessing the state’s progress was necessary.
The project Observatorio Guanajuato was carried out for Guanajuato’s Institute of Planning, Statistics and Geography (IPLANEG), together with CORESO and Cívicus, Consultores en Gestión Pública y Social. This project aims at establishing a web platform that enables the measurement and verification of the state's development, by managing, updating and disseminating statistical and geographical information.
The CORESO and Cívicus teams collaborated on the conceptual and architectural design, as well as the development and implementation of a web platform that integrates multiple data sources. This platform is adapted to report on and provide traceability on the evolution of the SDGs, offering intuitive and user-friendly visualisations. It is based on modern and flexible technologies to deliver a dynamic, adaptable interface.
The Government of Guanajuato officially launched this dedicated platform in January 2026. The platform provides a comprehensive space for the compilation, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of accurate, up-to-date and accessible data. It is intended to support public decision-making and institutional transparency.
